The short version
Your personal practice records stay on your iPhone. Arafah has no sign-in, advertising network, analytics SDK, or developer-operated backend. Your prayer records, bookmarks, tasbih state, settings, and cached zakat prices are stored locally on your device. When you choose a network feature, the service providers described below process limited request information needed to respond. If you contact support, the developer receives the contact details and message you deliberately provide.
User-requested Quran audio downloads, nearby-mosque search, App Store purchases, and optional zakat price refreshes use services described below. Those providers may process and retain limited request data. AWSAVVY LLC does not operate an app-user database or receive a profile of your activity from them.
Information used on your device
Location
If you grant permission, Arafah reads your location to calculate prayer times and Qibla on your device and to search for nearby mosques. Arafah requests a fresh location when needed; it does not continuously track you, create a location history, or send your coordinates to the developer. You can turn off location access at any time in iOS Settings.
You can instead search Apple Maps for a city and use it for prayer times, Qibla, local prayer notifications, and the prayer-times widget without granting GPS access. Apple processes the city-search request under its own policies. Arafah stores the city, its representative coordinates, and its time zone locally on your iPhone; the developer does not receive them. Nearby Mosques still requires your current location.
Prayer records, bookmarks, tasbih, and settings
These are stored locally on your iPhone using Apple’s on-device storage systems. Arafah does not transmit them to the developer. Removing the app may remove this local information, subject to how iOS handles app data and device backups.
Notifications and audio
Prayer reminders, tracker prompts, and an optional daily verse are scheduled through iOS. You can change notification permission in iOS Settings and adjust Arafah’s notification preferences in the app. The adhan is bundled with Arafah. Quran recitation is downloaded only when you choose a Surah or the full Quran, verified before use, and stored in Arafah’s app-owned space so it can play offline. You can remove downloaded recitation in the app. iOS may remove app data when you delete Arafah; downloaded recitation is excluded from device backups.
When Arafah connects to other services
Quran recitation downloads
When you ask to download recitation, Arafah retrieves immutable audio packages from its first-party content-delivery domain. The request does not include your name, email address, precise location, prayer activity, bookmarks, or an Arafah account. As with an ordinary web request, the delivery provider may process technical information needed to serve and secure the download, such as your public IP address, request time, requested file, and device or user-agent details. Its handling and retention of infrastructure logs is governed by the provider’s policies. You can avoid this connection by not downloading recitation; Quran Arabic, translations, tafsir, and other reference text remain available without it.
Nearby mosques and directions
Arafah also uses Apple’s MapKit service when you search for a prayer city or ask for places near your current location in Nearby Mosques. If you choose directions, the app opens Apple Maps or, when installed and selected, Google Maps. Those services process information under their own privacy policies. The developer does not receive your search or route.
Optional zakat market-price refresh
The zakat calculator can request current gold and silver prices from Gold API and currency exchange rates from ExchangeRate-API. The requests do not include your name, email address, precise location, prayer activity, assets, liabilities, or the amounts you enter in the calculator. The calculator inputs remain on your device.
As with any internet connection, those providers receive technical information needed to answer a request, such as your device’s public IP address, request time, and requested endpoint. Their handling and retention of server logs is governed by their own policies. Gold API states that it records API usage, timestamps, IP addresses, and approximate location derived from IP. ExchangeRate-API publishes its privacy terms with its terms of service. You can avoid these connections by not refreshing market prices and using cached or manually entered prices instead.
App Store purchases
Optional one-time support purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit. The developer does not receive your payment-card details. Apple may provide purchase status or an anonymized transaction record so the app can complete a purchase. These consumable tips are not restorable and grant no entitlement. Apple handles App Store data under its own policies.
Website and support contact
Messages you choose to send
You can email salam@getarafah.com. What you send is used to read, answer, and maintain the security and continuity of support—not to create an Arafah account, subscribe you to marketing, or profile app activity. Normal email-provider processing applies on both sides.
Hosting and abuse protection
The website is hosted on Cloudflare Workers. Cloudflare processes ordinary connection and security information needed to deliver the site, such as IP address, request time, browser or user-agent details, and requested URL.
Cloudflare handles this information under its own privacy policy.
What Arafah does not do
- No Arafah account, profile, or login.
- No advertising or advertising identifier.
- No cross-app tracking and no App Tracking Transparency prompt.
- No developer-operated analytics or crash-reporting SDK, mailing list, or marketing database.
- No sale or rental of personal information.
- No upload of your prayer record, bookmarks, settings, tasbih count, or zakat entries.
Retention and deletion
Because Arafah has no account or developer-operated app database, there is no Arafah account or cloud record to delete. Locally stored app data, including downloaded Quran recitation, remains on your device until you change or remove it, reset a feature where the app offers that option, or delete the app. You can remove downloaded recitation from its in-app download sheet and revoke location and notification permissions in iOS Settings.
Support messages remain in the support mailbox only as long as reasonably needed to answer the request, retain useful support context, and address security or legal obligations. You can ask for a support conversation to be deleted by emailing the address below. Cloudflare and email providers may retain technical records under their own policies and obligations.
Third-party providers may retain technical or transaction records under their own policies and legal obligations. Requests concerning those records must be made to the relevant provider.
Children’s privacy
Arafah is a general-audience religious-practice app. It does not create profiles for children or intentionally ask for personal data in the app. The service providers described above may process limited request data when a network feature is used. Purchases and permissions remain subject to Apple’s device, account, and parental controls.
Security
Arafah minimizes privacy risk by avoiding accounts and developer-operated storage. Information kept by the app is protected by the security of your iPhone and iOS. No system is guaranteed to be perfectly secure, and you are responsible for maintaining appropriate device security and backups.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when the app’s behavior or legal obligations change. The effective date at the top of this page will be revised. Any material change to data handling will be reflected here and in the App Store privacy information before or when the changed version is distributed.
