سَخَّرَهَا عَلَیْهِمْ سَبْعَ لَیَالٍ وَّثَمٰنِیَةَ اَیَّامٍ ۙ حُسُوْمًا فَتَرَی الْقَوْمَ فِیْهَا صَرْعٰی ۙ كَاَنَّهُمْ اَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ خَاوِیَةٍ ۟ۚ

Transliteration

Sakhkharaha AAalayhim sabAAa layalinwathamaniyata ayyamin husooman fataraalqawma feeha sarAAa kaannahum aAAjazunakhlin khawiya

Saheeh International

Which He [i.e., Allāh] imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees.

Al-Mukhtasar fi Tafsir

Allah released it upon them for seven nights and eight days, destroying them all. You would have seen the people destroyed in their homes, thrown onto the ground by the wind; as if they were the decomposed trunks of date palms fallen to the ground.
