Surah Al-Munafiqun

المنافقون

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

اِذَا جَآءَكَ الْمُنٰفِقُوْنَ قَالُوْا نَشْهَدُ اِنَّكَ لَرَسُوْلُ اللّٰهِ ۘ وَاللّٰهُ یَعْلَمُ اِنَّكَ لَرَسُوْلُهٗ ؕ وَاللّٰهُ یَشْهَدُ اِنَّ الْمُنٰفِقِیْنَ لَكٰذِبُوْنَ ۟ۚ

Transliteration

Itha jaaka almunafiqoonaqaloo nashhadu innaka larasoolu Allahi wallahuyaAAlamu innaka larasooluhu wallahu yashhadu innaalmunafiqeena lakathiboon

Saheeh International

When the hypocrites come to you, [O Muḥammad], they say, "We testify that you are the Messenger of Allāh." And Allāh knows that you are His Messenger, and Allāh testifies that the hypocrites are liars.

63:1

اِتَّخَذُوْۤا اَیْمَانَهُمْ جُنَّةً فَصَدُّوْا عَنْ سَبِیْلِ اللّٰهِ ؕ اِنَّهُمْ سَآءَ مَا كَانُوْا یَعْمَلُوْنَ ۟

Transliteration

Ittakhathoo aymanahum junnatanfasaddoo AAan sabeeli Allahi innahum saa makanoo yaAAmaloon

Saheeh International

They have taken their oaths as a cover, so they averted [people] from the way of Allāh. Indeed, it was evil that they were doing.

63:2

ذٰلِكَ بِاَنَّهُمْ اٰمَنُوْا ثُمَّ كَفَرُوْا فَطُبِعَ عَلٰی قُلُوْبِهِمْ فَهُمْ لَا یَفْقَهُوْنَ ۟

Transliteration

Thalika bi-annahum amanoothumma kafaroo fatubiAAa AAala quloobihim fahum layafqahoon

Saheeh International

That is because they believed, and then they disbelieved; so their hearts were sealed over, and they do not understand.

63:3

وَاِذَا رَاَیْتَهُمْ تُعْجِبُكَ اَجْسَامُهُمْ ؕ وَاِنْ یَّقُوْلُوْا تَسْمَعْ لِقَوْلِهِمْ ؕ كَاَنَّهُمْ خُشُبٌ مُّسَنَّدَةٌ ؕ یَحْسَبُوْنَ كُلَّ صَیْحَةٍ عَلَیْهِمْ ؕ هُمُ الْعَدُوُّ فَاحْذَرْهُمْ ؕ قٰتَلَهُمُ اللّٰهُ ؗ اَنّٰی یُؤْفَكُوْنَ ۟

Transliteration

Wa-itha raaytahum tuAAjibuka ajsamuhumwa-in yaqooloo tasmaAA liqawlihim kaannahum khushubunmusannadatun yahsaboona kulla sayhatinAAalayhim humu alAAaduwwu fahtharhum qatalahumuAllahu anna yu/fakoon

Saheeh International

And when you see them, their forms please you, and if they speak, you listen to their speech. [They are] as if they were pieces of wood propped up - they think that every shout is against them. They are the enemy, so beware of them. May Allāh destroy them; how are they deluded?

63:4

وَاِذَا قِیْلَ لَهُمْ تَعَالَوْا یَسْتَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ رَسُوْلُ اللّٰهِ لَوَّوْا رُءُوْسَهُمْ وَرَاَیْتَهُمْ یَصُدُّوْنَ وَهُمْ مُّسْتَكْبِرُوْنَ ۟

Transliteration

Wa-itha qeela lahum taAAalawyastaghfir lakum rasoolu Allahi lawwaw ruoosahumwaraaytahum yasuddoona wahum mustakbiroon

Saheeh International

And when it is said to them, "Come, the Messenger of Allāh will ask forgiveness for you," they turn their heads aside and you see them evading while they are arrogant.

63:5

سَوَآءٌ عَلَیْهِمْ اَسْتَغْفَرْتَ لَهُمْ اَمْ لَمْ تَسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ ؕ لَنْ یَّغْفِرَ اللّٰهُ لَهُمْ ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا یَهْدِی الْقَوْمَ الْفٰسِقِیْنَ ۟

Transliteration

Sawaon AAalayhim astaghfarta lahum amlam tastaghfir lahum lan yaghfira Allahu lahum inna Allahala yahdee alqawma alfasiqeen

Saheeh International

It is all the same for them whether you ask forgiveness for them or do not ask forgiveness for them; never will Allāh forgive them. Indeed, Allāh does not guide the defiantly disobedient people.

63:6

هُمُ الَّذِیْنَ یَقُوْلُوْنَ لَا تُنْفِقُوْا عَلٰی مَنْ عِنْدَ رَسُوْلِ اللّٰهِ حَتّٰی یَنْفَضُّوْا ؕ وَلِلّٰهِ خَزَآىِٕنُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ وَلٰكِنَّ الْمُنٰفِقِیْنَ لَا یَفْقَهُوْنَ ۟

Transliteration

Humu allatheena yaqooloona latunfiqoo AAala man AAinda rasooli Allahi hattayanfaddoo walillahi khaza-inu assamawatiwal-ardi walakinna almunafiqeena layafqahoon

Saheeh International

They are the ones who say, "Do not spend on those who are with the Messenger of Allāh until they disband." And to Allāh belong the depositories of the heavens and the earth, but the hypocrites do not understand.

63:7

یَقُوْلُوْنَ لَىِٕنْ رَّجَعْنَاۤ اِلَی الْمَدِیْنَةِ لَیُخْرِجَنَّ الْاَعَزُّ مِنْهَا الْاَذَلَّ ؕ وَلِلّٰهِ الْعِزَّةُ وَلِرَسُوْلِهٖ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ وَلٰكِنَّ الْمُنٰفِقِیْنَ لَا یَعْلَمُوْنَ ۟۠

Transliteration

Yaqooloona la-in rajaAAna ilaalmadeenati layukhrijanna al-aAAazzu minha al-athallawalillahi alAAizzatu walirasoolihi walilmu/mineena walakinnaalmunafiqeena la yaAAlamoon

Saheeh International

They say, "If we return to al-Madīnah, the more honored [for power] will surely expel therefrom the more humble." And to Allāh belongs [all] honor, and to His Messenger, and to the believers, but the hypocrites do not know.

63:8

یٰۤاَیُّهَا الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْا لَا تُلْهِكُمْ اَمْوَالُكُمْ وَلَاۤ اَوْلَادُكُمْ عَنْ ذِكْرِ اللّٰهِ ۚ وَمَنْ یَّفْعَلْ ذٰلِكَ فَاُولٰٓىِٕكَ هُمُ الْخٰسِرُوْنَ ۟

Transliteration

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoola tulhikum amwalukum wala awladukumAAan thikri Allahi waman yafAAal thalikafaola-ika humu alkhasiroon

Saheeh International

O you who have believed, let not your wealth and your children divert you from the remembrance of Allāh. And whoever does that - then those are the losers.

63:9

وَاَنْفِقُوْا مِنْ مَّا رَزَقْنٰكُمْ مِّنْ قَبْلِ اَنْ یَّاْتِیَ اَحَدَكُمُ الْمَوْتُ فَیَقُوْلَ رَبِّ لَوْلَاۤ اَخَّرْتَنِیْۤ اِلٰۤی اَجَلٍ قَرِیْبٍ ۙ فَاَصَّدَّقَ وَاَكُنْ مِّنَ الصّٰلِحِیْنَ ۟

Transliteration

Waanfiqoo min ma razaqnakummin qabli an ya/tiya ahadakumu almawtu fayaqoola rabbilawla akhkhartanee ila ajalin qareebin faassaddaqawaakun mina assaliheen

Saheeh International

And spend [in the way of Allāh] from what We have provided you before death approaches one of you and he says, "My Lord, if only You would delay me for a brief term so I would give charity and be of the righteous."

63:10

وَلَنْ یُّؤَخِّرَ اللّٰهُ نَفْسًا اِذَا جَآءَ اَجَلُهَا ؕ وَاللّٰهُ خَبِیْرٌ بِمَا تَعْمَلُوْنَ ۟۠

Transliteration

Walan yu-akhkhira Allahu nafsan ithajaa ajaluha wallahu khabeerun bimataAAmaloon

Saheeh International

But never will Allāh delay a soul when its time has come. And Allāh is Aware of what you do.

63:11
